Boys Hockey Tops Thayer 2-1 in Overtime Thriller

The Hoosac boys varsity hockey team came away with another thrilling victory as they edged out one of the best hockey teams in all of prep school, Thayer Academy, by a score of 2-1 in overtime! Hoosac found themselves down early, though, as Thayer scored a lightning fast goal just one minute into the game. The Owls had to play from behind but proved to be resilient.

The score remained 1-0 until the nine minute mark of the third period when Manny Cabral '20 finished off a beautiful display of tic-tac-toe passing between Sebastian Tigerhielm '20 and Simon Delden '19.

With just one minute and thirty seconds remaining in the third period, Hoosac took a very unfortunate penalty and was forced to play a man down. After blocking a number of shots, the Owls killed off their 16th consecutive penalty! The momentum swung back and forth for the next couple minutes until Hoosac took yet another penalty, this time with a little over one minute remaining in the overtime.

Now down one man, Ronny Paragallo '20 won a crucial face-off in the neutral zone. Seth Robinson '21 sent the puck in deep, racing to the puck and out-skating two defenders was Paragallo. The puck layed loose in front of the goal as Paragallo dove head first and slapped it home! With 56 seconds remaining, the Owls pulled out an incredible come from behind victory over Thayer Academy.

Paragallo's goal was his second overtime winner of the season. The first came against Winchendon just one week prior.
