About Hoosac School – 125 Years of Tradition
Hoosac School was founded in Hoosick, New York in 1889. For over 125 years Hoosac has been enrolling boarders and day students in Forms II-VI (Grades 8-12) and our postgraduate program. As a coeducational, college preparatory school, Hoosac celebrates each student's individuality in all aspects of their educational life. Our low student-to-teacher ratio, challenging academics, and active social life in a caring and supportive community prepares all Hoosac students for the rigor of college and life ahead. We encourage you to explore our academics, athletics, arts, student life, and admissions pages to learn more about what a Hoosac experience will mean for you.
Our school is one of the best small co-educational preparatory boarding schools located in the capital region of New York. While being situated in New York, we are a very close drive to Connecticut, Massachusetts, and Vermont. It is also an easy trip to New York City, Westchester County, New York, and Boston, Massachusetts. We invite you to take a virtual tour of our campus or contact us to schedule a visit. Visit our directions page for more information on getting to Hoosac. We have a capacity of 130 students, however that number will increase in the fall of 2016. Currently, the school has over 75 courses and an incredible 5:1 student-to-teacher ratio. Hoosac School, which is rich with tradition, builds a strong sense of community through small class sizes, on and off campus activities, and our annual yule log celebration. Hoosac School has a long history of educating young minds to prepare them for the next stage of their academic careers.
As you go through the website I hope you will pause and imagine for a moment that you are here on campus. Try and put yourself in the picture before you and imagine all the fun, learning and camaraderie that is happening, you could be a part of that.
